The Equinox Chase
TAKEN FROM TODAY’S HEADLINES
In the islands of Mozambique, Delta operator Kelly Murdoch and Caitlin Stone flee for their lives when attacked by al-Shabaab terrorists. As they desperately board a dilapidated fishing dhow, Kelly catches a glimpse of the al-Shabaab leader; a blonde European. It’s an image seared in his mind.
Back home, Kelly is sent to Seattle on a joint military-CIA undercover mission to infiltrate Antifa anarchists causing havoc during the ‘summer of love’ riots. To his astonishment, he sees the same al-Shabaab leader being hosted by leaders of a radical offshoot of Antifa. His name is Lennart and he is part of an international network of revolutionaries determined to destroy the western world by fuelling civil unrest.
Posing as an ‘anti-fascist’ fanatic, Kelly befriends Lennart, who invites him to Mozambique to train al-Shabaab ‘holy warriors’. Kelly accepts, and discovers that the gas-rich northern Mozambique coastline is the new Silk Road of Afghan heroin into Africa. The drug is used to finance a looming global terror war.
When Antifa riots break out once more in Washington, Kelly and his Delta partner Carl Wilson again go undercover and meet up with Lennart, who has smuggled a team of insurgents into America. The protests turn lethal, and Lennart and an accomplice escape into Canada, where they board a ship to Mexico and back to Mozambique. Kelly and Carl are hot on their trail, but the terror network is one step ahead …
As always, Spence — a former journalist — bases his plots on stories culled from today’s headlines, and it’s often difficult to distinguish fact from faction. Prepare for a roller-coaster of a read.
